Scotland’s Liberation Movement

Aims and Objectives of Salvo and the Scottish National Congress of Liberation Scotland

The aim of Liberation Scotland is to restore the political sovereignty of the people of Scotland, remove the British state’s ‘administrative’ control of the assets owned by the Scottish people and obtain for our nation the restitution owed by the British state for its fraudulent appropriation of Scotland’s natural resources over many decades.

The Scottish National Congress Steering Group, for and on behalf of Liberation Scotland, asserts those rights under:

• the universally accepted principles of international justice

• the agreed and constitutional provisions and limits of the international Treaty of Union according to the principles of Treaty law

• the UN Charter, the Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts and other relevant international laws or agreements.

We affirm that neither the UK Parliament nor any domestic court, including the UK Supreme Court, is empowered to legitimise the wrongful actions of the British state by any domestic statute or ruling whatsoever:

The characterization of an act of a State as internationally wrongful is governed by international law., (Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts, United Nations 2001).

Recognising that:

a) the campaign to establish the rights of the Scottish people, and the lawful limits of Westminster control in Scotland, must be conducted internationally and

b) a national Liberation Movement is entitled to register for standing with the United Nations

Liberation Scotland has been established as a vehicle of the Scottish Liberation Movement. Registration can be assisted by achieving at least the same membership as claimed by Scotland’s largest political party and by the creation of a representative civic assembly, the Scottish National Congress.

The educational and campaigning arm of Liberation Scotland, Salvo, is committed to the restoration of the sovereign rights of the people of Scotland and of the territorial nation of Scotland under international law through:

• Raising public awareness in Scotland and internationally of the true position of Scotland as a de facto colony within the United Kingdom

• Restoring public awareness of the historical and constitutional record pertaining to Scottish political and social identity

• Challenging the British establishment’s colonial narrative which erases or misrepresents Scottish historical, political and social identity

• Challenging the British establishment’s ‘legal and political’ narrative which has hidden, ignored, erased or misrepresented both the constitutional limits and provisions of the Treaty of Union and the territorial and political rights and benefits to which the people of Scotland remain entitled

• Advancing Liberation Scotland’s campaign to bring Scotland’s true condition to international attention and establishing our rights under international law

In furtherance of these aims, Salvo is undertaking a Liberation membership drive based on the Edinburgh Proclamation. Membership is free. The aim is to achieve a membership level which demonstrates clear public support for Liberation Scotlandand confirms the Scottish National Congress (SNC) as deserving of standing and recognition within the United Nations.

Having gained standing, the SNC will seek a UN intermediary and through that intermediary, an advisory ruling from the International Court of Justice. The question to be addressed is whether Scotland is:

a) in a voluntary political Union, one governed by a legal agreement, (the 1707 international Treaty of Union), whose conditions and limits must be respected or

b) a colony i.e. in an involuntary ‘union’, since it is now administered through the English domestic Act of Union 1706, under conditions subject to the UK parliament, dominated almost 10:1 by the English partner in the Union.

We will show that a ‘United Kingdom’ exists in name only and that the pre-Union,English constitution, English political settlement and English Crown institution are imposed on Scotland as if it were merely an annexed territory of England.

In bringing Scotland’s cause to the attention of the international community, we shall do what the Scottish Government, as a legislative arm of the Westminster government in Scotland, cannot do. We shall engage in a diplomatic and legal, international campaign so as:

• to establish a proper and internationally recognised remedy for the flagrant abuse and breaches of an international, treaty-based agreement and the violation of international law

• to end the oppression and exploitation of a sovereign people and restore our lawful rights

• to end the theft of our national resources.

The SNC strategy recognizes the following:

Although an advisory ruling by the ICJ is not normally binding, it becomes so when the matter relates directly to existing UN policy under international law. The right of a nation and a people to decolonisation is such a policy.

If the UK government agrees to honour its treaty obligations, Scotland will immediately assume control of its own territorial resources through a public body independent of the UK government or its subsidiaries.

Our devolved government will be empowered to implement the practical, political mechanisms of autochthonous, Scottish, (not 18th century European), popular sovereignty. This can be realised through modern, direct democracy which will empower the people of Scotland, who are entitled to ‘choose the form of government best suited to their needs’, (Claim of Right, 1689, as reaffirmed by ‘Scotland’s Claim of Right’, 1989), to hold a referendum on any issue, including independence, at any time.

If the UK government refuses to honour these treaty obligations, we believe that the ICJ must conclude that Scotland is, in effect, a colony. Such a ruling will become binding and should result in Scotland’s immediate listing for decolonisation.

The above spells out clearly the purpose and direction of Salvo, Liberation and the Scottish National Congress. These three organisations are running in tandem in the same direction. Salvo will be the campaigning arm of the movement and we are calling on everyone to sign up to Liberation.Scot while also joining Salvo.Scot if you wish to take part on the campaigning side. Regional hubs are being set up NOW across the country and on joining Salvo you will be given the details of your local hub to join up with our local teams. We have big plans and our summer recruitment campaigns will be shortly underway. Your country needs you! Welcome aboard! WAKE UP WORLD…SCOTLAND’S ON THE MOVE!

I am, as always

Sadly some websites seek to censor what their readers have access to read. This is particularly true of sites whose existence is primarily to support the views of one particular party and they seek to block articles which do not slavishly support that particular doctrine. My readers have worked out that the best way to defeat that attack on the freedom of speech and thought is to share my articles widely, thus defeating any attempt at censorship. My thanks for this.

Are playing a crucial role in taking Independence forward. This site limits donations to Yours for Scotland to a maximum of £3. We do not need more as all we seek to do is to cover the costs incurred in running the blog therefore once this is secured each year all further donations are forwarded to Salvo and Liberation. My thanks for all who choose to support us in this way. It is appreciated.

  1. Do you know Iain I suspect some spook knew you were about to publish dynamite that genuinely leads us forward and so this ‘must subscribe’ nonsense appeared to discourage those who read your excellent blog.

  2. Who created the logo?

It looks like an Islamic crescent, a Christian cross and a sword, mixed with that first flash of light at a new dawn – very interesting.

      1. There’s precious little by ways of inspiration from the leadership of anything related to politics. A liberation movement on the other hand is all about inspiration. If there is story behind the design, I’d be interested in hearing it.

      1. That didn’t leap out at me. But now that you mentioning the first word that came to mind when looking at the logo is “Justice” – that’s kind of why I’m interesting in hearing the story of it’s creation.

    1. I thought it was the sun emerging from an eclipse! I suppose that shows how good a piece of art it is – we can all read different things into it!

  3. Well Ian, what you said needs saying everywhere in Scotland, the people of our land need to know “everything ” about the so called “Union” and how it has been slowly hijacked by Westminster to line English pockets at the expense of our own people. Enough is enough, and now is the time for our people to recognise the power that we actually have. It can’t come soon enough.

  4. It is great to see all of Salvo’s work over the last year or so being condensed into a clear practical plan which is capable of being acted on by the people of Scotland.

  5. Hi Iain,
Does this mean the websites are safe to sign onto now? I’ve been wary since your recent article and the IndyCar video.

  6. This is the progress that I envisaged when I joined Salvo and Liberation but it has only come about by the hard work of so many people, most of whom may never know how much of a positive difference their contribution has made.

In just one year, the whole face of self-determination and independence for Scotland has changed from the traditional party political route, where conflict and confrontation are the accepted norm, to co-operation and consensual development that has already achieved so much.

The realisation of our Popular Sovereignty, that has for so long been hidden from us has revitalised what had become a stale and completely useless state of repetitive requests from our Administrating Power for another referendum that we know they simply cannot afford to grant.

However, armed with knowledge and enthused by the message from Salvo and Liberation, Scotland is finally back on route to the restoration of all that belongs to us but has been buried and hidden to avoid what Salvo and Liberation have become and what they will achieve.

  7. Not on topic again so no change there. I just watched a Through a Scottish Prism podcast with Ash Regan and god the SNP missed a trick by not having that lady as leader if they are serious about Indy. No sniggering at the back . She was slagged off during the leadership contest for her lack of polish and media training even by some of her own team but the fact that she talks like the rest of us and does not get ” her ducks in a row” or ” endeavour to persevere” is a large part of her appeal. Being photogenic also helps but the lady can talk and is not a cardboard cut out like some of the current crop of SNP drones , clones , chancers and gravy slurpers the SNP is polluted with. I suspect she will pay a price for appearing with Red Roddy on Prism in what is left of the SNP but I for one salute her and were I still a member would vote for her. Go girl.

  8. Mcpravda a so called Nationalist news paper has reported that some American economist thinks that Scotland could use the Bank of England in some way as a solution to the currency debacle. It’s all Brintnat propaganda, dont believe a word . We all ready have a currency it’s called a Scottish pound all we need to do is to stop tracking the English curency and set up a national bank , Yes we already have that to its called the Bank of Scotland. Just look in your pocket and you will see your Scottish currency. The colonialists want you to channel all our money for Oil, Gas and Electricity revenue through London ensuring there continued enrichment, stealthy colonial theft of our assets.
Let’s just keep our own money in our own bank and enrich poor old exploted impoverished Scotland for a change. No country that has left the British empire has been foolish enough to let the British control their currency. Let’s not let the stupid and the traitorous lead us down this path to folly.
The British establishment will do us no favours.
    Desolve the Union.

  9. Great post. Thanks Iain, Sara, et al.

I also love the graphic. To me, it looks like after an eclipse – itself a period of darkness – and the moon moves on and we can see the light again, with the stronger rays forming a saltire! Very clever iconography …

  10. In order to reach a destination (independence) you need to know how to get there, and that sounds like a plan! The only thing I was wondering having read Alf’s poem last night was whether it should be explicitly stated that Scotland has no veto within the Union and, as Breeks has alluded to, it leaves us with no means of self-defence? It is perhaps already covered in the plan but it just struck me as such an important point when reading Alf’s poem.

As regards the logo, it seems quite Knights Templarish to me which is no bad thing considering the importance of Rosslyn Chapel and Rosslyn Castle to Scottish history and Sara’s uncovering of the Holy Grail! I actually read somewhere that the St George’s Cross was flown on the Scottish side at the Battle of Bannockburn because it was the flag of the Knights Templar who fought alongside the Scots as they had been given sanctuary in Scotland from persecution.
