PRISM SHOW 13th February 2022.

This week’s show discusses the Scottish budget, Ukraine and the arms race, Liz Truss’s embarrassing trip to Moscow. Hard talk yes but peppered with some humour as well. I hope you enjoy!

BEAT THE CENSORS

Sadly some sites had given up on being pro Indy sites and have decided to become merely pro SNP sites where any criticism of the Party Leader or opposition to the latest policy extremes, results in censorship being applied. This, in the rather over optimistic belief that this will suppress public discussion on such topics. My regular readers have expertly worked out that by regularly sharing articles on this site defeats that censorship and makes it all rather pointless. I really do appreciate such support and free speech in Scotland is remaining unaffected by their juvenile censorship. Indeed it is has become a symptom of weakness and guilt. Quite encouraging really.

  1. I have been listening to your podcast and I have to say, da Ja Vu,
In 2019, the approximate sales value of oil and gas produced in Scotland is estimated to have been £22.5 billion. Operating expenditure (excluding decommissioning) is estimated to have been £7.5 billion in 2019, up 4.4% from the previous year. £30 billion in oil and gas exports make Scotland a ‘main player’ in the global market. Scottish Energy News.
All this oil and gas in Scottish waters and not one drop of oil or cubic meter of gas belongs to Scotland – they have absolutely no control over it (likewise wind power). So whilst Scotland freezes, whilst Scotland pays through the nose for high energy, whilst London based hedge funds Hoover up all the profits, the Scottish government is locked into a loop of mitigation, with an ever decreasing pot of money, handout paying out taxpayers money (giving out sweeties, as we near the local elections) that will do nothing to elevate the problem for the poorest in our communities, sixth wealthiest nation on earth and we still have food banks, and homeless people sleeping on our streets, come on.

And yes, everyone including the dog in the street knows that the NHS is falling apart, waiting times are now calculated in years not weeks or even months, so privatisation will be an easy sell if you are waiting for a hip replacement you will care little who does the operation.

£150 hand out – sorry with inflation soaring and my pension static this will do nothing to persuade me to vote for the SNP – Labour, – the Tories or Lib/Dem – and most people in Scotland are feeling the same that Holyrood is just another expensive tear of Westminster government and like the Lords something we could well do without.

I believe the SNP are simply going to dangle the independence carrot in front of the gullible SNP voter for as long as they can get away with it and when they are finally kicked out well, they had a good run and have managed to fill their boots, golden handshakes and big pension pots.

When did you hear any real challenge to their power in Scotland? If we know all of the above is true and that independence is the only way forward – what is holding us back? Where will the next young Alex Salmond come from? These are the questions I want answers to not the same old same old. Sorry but I just get so frustrated at the lack of leadership in Scotland and the apathy that is setting in. really how long will it be before Nicola Sturgeon comes to the podium at an SNP conference and the message projected onto the screen behind her reads – BETTER TOGETHER.

    1. Sturgeon is, by her own admition, not a nationalist. Therein lies the problem. She shrinks before the task because she fears « adverse consequences», and she’s not alone among her courtiers with such terrors.
The steely ability to face such consequences and the intellectual capacity to overcome them is a measure of leadership.

  2. I posted this on Roddy’s Barrhead boy site

Another great entertaining and informative prism thank you lads , and thank you techie and YEW TUBE for that hilarious but truthful expose of sturgeon’s collaboration with the vegetables

TBH I HATE having to introduce a negative , I genuinely like Phil Boswell and think his contributions are relevant informed and intelligent BUT FGS Phil step off the snp playbus put your loyalty to the snp party aside (because it is no longer the snp political party you loved and supported , it is now a twisted perverted monster INFESTED by twisted and perverted people sabotaging and DESTROYING the dreams of Scots)

Tommy Shepherd , Kate Forbes , Phillipa Whitford , Joanna Cherry and the rest that PEOPLE consider NICE are NOT NICE they are condoning and supporting every move that sturgeon and her cabal are making AGAINST the wishes of the VAST MAJORITY of the electorate by their SILENCE and immobility . IF they are to be considered NICE , WHY are they not vociferously and publicly EXPOSING the obvious and desperately ignored THREAT these policies pose to the safety and security of our womenfolk and children

WHY are these GOOD and NICE people CONTENT for independence to be used as a carrot at every election to falsely encourage people to vote snp when they KNOW sturgeon has deliberately AVOIDED fighting for it and lies repeatedly time after time about the timing of any movement towards it

As the saying goes ” ALL IT TAKES FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD PEOPLE TO DO NOTHING ” and these GOOD people are doing NOTHING against the EVIL of sturgeon and her cabal of lunatics

    1. Twathater.

      On Forbes.

So Scotland is to get two new freeports, disguised as Greenports, talk about greenwashing. The SNP Finance secretary Katie Forbes appears to be over the moon at the prospect.

However freeports, drive down wages, they increase smuggling, fraud, tax evasion, among other negative impacts, like the great Scotwind giveaway by the SNP government freeports, sorry greenports, (talk about calling a spade a shovel) are not what we need when it comes to ports

    1. Or at least the THREAT of war Otto . Got to keep the masses in a state of fear whilst pumping-up the jingoistic rhetoric and providing distraction from domestic woes : aided as ever by their lap-dog MSM which , even by it’s own abysmal standards , is displaying even more of the same uncritical , slavering compliance than that last seen in the run-up to the invasion and subsequent destruction of Iraq

Where are * our * Scottish MPS and MPs in all this ? Well, we know where at least some of them have been – ” Standing With Ukraine ” ( lol ) .

But where is the Great Helmsperson ,Sturgeon ?

Cowering in the shadows waiting to see how the wind blows before making any comment , can’t be seen to be in opposition to the US/UK narrative . As ever .

      1. Some are joining dots re Ukrain that link Scotland to the struggle for independence against an aggressive neighbour.
Can such a link be made?
from Wiki, hardly a neutral source of information.
«Ukraine is a developing country ranking 74th in the Human Development Index. It is the poorest country in Europe, suffering from a very high poverty rate as well as severe corruption. However, because of its extensive fertile farmlands, Ukraine is one of the largest grain exporters in the world. It also maintains the third largest military in Europe after Russia and France.»
The history of Ukrain is radically different from that of Scotland too. It is culturally far closer to Russia than Scotland ever was to England and on a very basic level has only recently had defined borders with its neighbours.
With the end of Soviet Russia NATO sought to ring fence the Russian state, the current situation arises from that American «hemispheric» project.

  3. “Help Ma Bob”, the Russians are coming,we need the UK, Ok, the Broad shoulders of the Union to protect our democracy. What’s that democracy, oh the thing we haven’t got. Yeah Tory Fascist governments we didint vote for ,austerity, food banks, unemployment, life a a perpetual dystopian Tory dictatorship.
Dont you just hate being a colonial subject in Brexitland.

  4. We have sleepwalked into this situation .The SNP rather than being our champions have morphed into the quisling colonial administration of Scotland. The buck stops at the Supreme Leader, Dark Queen Covid herself, she is a nodding horse to the Union. She must go for any prospect of an improvement in our position.

    1. They are the same breed of middle class servants that adminstered India for England. In fact, didn’t some of the current executive grow up in India because their parent was on an ecclesiastical mission there? All very late Victorian.

I would also note in passing that this in the centenary year of the UK. This seems to have been completely missed by all.
