Another hour of lively chat covering many of the big issues of the week, none bigger than events in Ukraine and the GRA controversy at Holyrood.

BEAT THE CENSORS

Sadly some sites had given up on being pro Indy sites and have decided to become merely pro SNP sites where any criticism of the Party Leader or opposition to the latest policy extremes, results in censorship being applied. This, in the rather over optimistic belief that this will suppress public discussion on such topics. My regular readers have expertly worked out that by regularly sharing articles on this site defeats that censorship and makes it all rather pointless. I really do appreciate such support and free speech in Scotland is remaining unaffected by their juvenile censorship. Indeed it is has become a symptom of weakness and guilt. Quite encouraging really.

    With your permission I am going to repeat most of one of my comment from last week.

    SEX or GENDER?

    I believe that Eva Comrie speaks so much sense and would dearly like to know what she thinks of the following observations:

    I first learned about sex when entering adolescence as what makes boys and girls different, i.e. it is physical and biological and established at birth. This is still the dictionary definition of this term.

    From the age of 12, I was introduced to gender in learning foreign languages. In French it was easy: gender for nouns (and adjectives) was just sex, with all such words being either male or female. Things got a bit more complicated with Latin and German with the introduction of the third option: neuter, being NEITHER male nor female linguistically.

    I could live with that. Sex was either male or female but gender was either male, female or neuter but the two terms were not the same.

    Now, we have made the big mistake of mixing gender WITH sex. They are not the same thing. Neuter is sex-less! gender is a completely improper word to describe human beings (or other animals). Nowhere is that truer than in the law and acts of parliaments affecting people.

    Words like heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual are fine as they indicate sexual orientation. But, we have been completely conned by almost equating gender with sex. Of course, so called “trans” women and men love gender as it allows them to now float along a spectrum between male and female. This was not helped earlier by the adoption of multiple so-called in between “genders” (perhaps over 50) by LGBT groups.

    I appeal to all rational people (like myself of course!) to drop GENDER and talk/write about SEX. This in no way is an attack on homosexuals (of either sex) or even bisexuals, which defines simple orientation, but a plea to use language properly for clarity.

    The Gender “Recognition” Act and its derivatives are factually meaningless and are just recipes for mainly men dressing up as women, some of whom are psychologically deviant and are a danger to biological women. The SG proposed reforms just make it so much easier! What are they doing and WHY are they doing it?

    A final plea – ban gender from our language!
