The future for Yours for Scotland.

It is hard work running a blog, compiling the story including sourcing the news, organising the story, checking the accuracy before publication then responding to many of the comments. The key requirements are proper motivation and a regular flow of interesting developments to report on.

It is the shortage of interesting developments these days that are the main problem. The political parties are in the doldrums and there is no sense that they have any significant positive news to deliver. They have lost the will to fight and the Tories are getting it easy as the SNP Government seem quite happy to surrender in the face of opposing the Tories. Plans to build Freeport’s are the latest move to remove any possible protection against the continued rape of Scotland assets and rights. Another new barrier to Scotland’s people reclaiming their legal right to own and benefit from those assets and the SNP Government did what to stop it?

It has been a decade of despair in virtually all the last ten years and I can see no end to it. The politicians are in the main useless with a few honourable exceptions and they are in minor parties or Independent and have little or no power at this time.

Most of the Scottish people are fast asleep, blissfully unaware of the rampant colonial control of their country, which tightens by the day. The Apathy Party is comfortably in charge supported by a Unionist media whose role is to suppress any voices that might set off the alarm clocks and start a revolution.

Mark my words, it is revolution that is needed. We are being failed daily, the devolved Parliament has proven in recent years to be a toothless pussy, incapable of identifying the key Scottish issues never mind put together any action to either deliver positive policies or set up proper action to defend the Scottish interest. All this in the face of the ever mounting aggressive and damaging policies from the Tories in Westminster.

If folk think I am wrong about this please use the comments section of my blog to list their achievements. I am not expecting any deluge.

So given the above I am going to continue with less frequent postings until that picture changes. I have no wish to publish negative articles daily but that is literally all that is on offer these days.It is a general election year so I would hope to see some improvement in the coming months. The blog will continue to support and will be open to contributions from people across the YES movement who wish to see their articles published on Yours for Scotland. Please also accept, as I do, that the views expressed are not always in line with my own but I firmly believe it is in the best interests of Scotland that we have open debate recognising divergent views and opinions. Curtailing free speech and demanding universal blind loyalty to any cause is a sign of weakness and leads to the division and apathy we witness today. Debate is healthy, it indicates life in any movement rather than apathy. Quality debate exposes weaknesses that can be overcome and enhances the message.

The main focus of this blog will be in support of both Salvo and Liberation, both of whom are working very hard and are being rewarded with growing memberships, albeit not at the levels yet of what should be happening in Scotland given the attacks on the Scottish people. If you want to know what Westminster really fears just look at the ridiculous media blackout on any of their activities. We are talking about possibly the second biggest political organisation in membership terms in Scotland but are facing complete censorship in the Scottish media. They fear our message. They know if we ever get a fair level of coverage loud alarms would be going off all over Scotland. Despite the media and political efforts to suppress we will breakthrough and some of the exciting moves that are planned are taking shape. More on this later this month.

So my thanks to those who continue to support this blog by liking and sharing the articles. I have never sought financial support other than to raise the few hundred pounds it costs each year to fund the site and blog software. All other monies are forwarded to Salvo/Liberation although I now also publish the information that allows larger donations ( more than £3) to go directly to Salvo.

So keep the faith folks, better news is in the pipeline but perhaps the fact that increasingly many people are starting to abandon the political parties in Scotland will wake them up to the very serious positions their inactions are responsible for.

My next post on this site will reveal the biggest challenge we pro Indy bloggers face, not opinion but hard facts and figures. I very much hope people are angry and appalled with this news. EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON.

I am, as always

Yours for Scotland.

BEAT THE CENSORS

Unfortunately there are some sites where extensive blocking takes place against bloggers who do not slavishly follow the dictates of one political party. This is a direct threat to freedom of speech and I unhesitatingly condemn such action. To overcome this problem I rely on my readers to share Yours for Scotland articles as widely as possible. My thanks to those who help overcome censorship.

FREE SUBSCRIPTIONS

The most reliable way to get articles from this site is by taking out a free subscription which are available on the Home and Blog pages of the Yours for Scotland website. Given that I often seem to face other problems with both Twitter and Facebook this guarantees that my content is freely available.

  1. Keep the sword sharp ready for battle when needed….

“If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is tempermental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.”

Totally get you. It is depressing having to discuss the bomb scare that is the UK and the state of the colony. The apathy of the voters is equally frustrating as well as disgusting in many ways. Apathy supports the union and has been their strategy for hundreds of years as a very few benefit from the colonies resources. It is a national shame and for the yoons and the ignorant they should feel it doubly. I’ll have zero sympathy when those who have been bought and sold, those who chose to be ignorant and would rather love island than actually taking an interest in what is being done to them lose what little they have they only have themselves to blame.

We are beyond sending anyone to the English Parliament now or even bothering to vote in the English Parliament elections, it’s time to remove the pretence of consent or at least for 50% of us, it’s time to just say no not taking part in this sham anymore and giving the impression I convent because I use my vote in the colonisers election.

Why would we offer false legitimacy by voting in WM election? Not my Parliament!

I am at the point now where there is no point. If I thought yes supporters on mass would vote ISP then I would join them but given that won’t happen I don’t think I’ll be taking part anymore in anything that gives our colonisation legitimacy as you note.

Time for a change of direction and to do other things. Marching and shouting in the streets achieves NOTHING

  6. ‘It is revolution that is needed’. Aye Iain, the parliamentary road has proven to be a handy cul de sac for the SNP and its adherents to ‘park’ the Independence vehicle.

Censorship is proving to be the major barrier in preventing our message getting out and is being deployed on a regular basis most effectively and not just by the mainstream media. The SNP led Scottish Government are using it with great effect (and to date success) by the simple means of redaction.

Scotland’s future MUST be in our hands, SUPPORT SALVO/LIBERATION.SCOT. #END THE UNION!!

  7. Our situation is pretty dire, with our politicians being such a waste of space. So what to do?

Not voting has been advocated by some but to me that is running the white flag up the pole. It may IMPLY dissatisfaction but will simply be interpreted (and reported by the MSM) as people not caring about Independence (or anything else). There will be lots of discussion among the chattering classes about making voting mandatory blah blah etc. Intentionally missing the point.

However, and on a more positive note, there is something we can do at the British general election:

Allan Petrie of the Alba Party has come to the conclusion that we should ‘spoil’ our vote by writing #NotMyParliament across the ballot paper. His rationale has been republished by both Denise Findlay and GrouseBeater’s blogs (https://grousebeater.wordpress.com/2024/01/18/scotland-what-next/)

    I agree with Allan.

To his credit Peter A Bell has been blogging about this kind of direct action for some time, specifically using #EndTheUnion as what he terms accurately as a ‘repurposing’ of the ballot paper. (It is not ignorantly spoiling the ballot paper, it has a specific aim). Like Allan, he reaches a logical conclusion and opts for a belligerently assertive approach, sadly lacking in ALL our (supposedly) pro-Independence political parties.

    This serves two purposes:

One, if enough people participate it delegitimises Westminster as in any way representing the wishes of the Scottish people. Two, it serves as a reminder to our political representatives that we the people are in charge and they had better do what we want, not the other way around. That’s called popular sovereignty.

I live in Scotland’s own political heart of darkness – Grange, Edinburgh South – so there is nobody to vote for here as the Britz have got their act together and have combined around Ian Murray, the Union Jack besuited House Jock to capture this constituency as their own Little England posh ghetto. So I will be repurposing my ballot at the forthcoming Britz general election in any event with whatever the movement can settle on as the common message – #EndTheUnion or #NotMyParliament or something else. It doesn’t matter so long as it is a consistent expression.

By repurposing our ballot paper we would be EXPLICITLY rejecting the British government, parliament, candidates and the whole British political system.

This is something positive that we Yes/Independence supporters must coalesce around: We must reverse the process of Little England becoming Greater England in Scotland.

  8. A revolution, of sorts, will take place when enough Scottish voters take it into their heads to stop wasting their time every five years and start boycotting the polling booth. The necessary revolution will manifest itself in the ramifications that must follow from such a boycott. The brave and determined souls who fought to bring us to the pale-version of democracy that we see around us today, would, I’m sure, have no difficulties in understanding our predicament thus the necessity for revolutionary action. I might further add that it doesn’t matter-a-damn who we Scots vote for, our next political-masters will be the cosmopolitan party that wins the most parliamentary constituencies in England. While we’re at it, we might also consider listening closely to those parties who tell us they are for Scottish independence, and match their words alongside their deeds, before, as has been our wont, of elevating their leaders to the status of presidential demigods and demigodesses.

  9. I have stopped voting. For some years I spoiled my paper in the approved manner in order that it be counted and reported. Then one realises that it makes no difference. The referendum in 2014 was fixed. I saw clear indications of this.
The total number of MSPs and MPs elected in Scotland in 2014/15 who were elected on an independence ticket was over 2/3 of the total. They did not get then together in one room to vote to secede. Such a vote would have been legitimate and legal.
It was clear then, and irrefutable, that the SNP had no taste for action that would result in independence and the work that would be required to achieve it, international recognition, etc.
I joined the SNP in 1964 and for some years was fairly active. Sitting at the same table as Mike Russell in meetings and so on.
But nothing was being achieved. People were installed in party positions because they belonged to the clique and while the number of votes grew nothing happened. No real plans. Nothing to worry the Union.
I left the SNP over 20 years ago.

Tells you all. The Scottish Vichy Parliament.

On a more upbeat note I attended a Yes showing of Leslie Riddoch’film Denmark held in Balloch on Sunday.

Absolutely full house attendance on a dreich cold Sunday afternoon. Most encouraging and I there are more showings scheduled.

The dream, the desire for independence has not died as the attendances at this local Yes event shows.

And moreover Leslie will assist deliver other showings for groups that would want to host an event.

  10. (Iain – your willingness to allow posts from fellow independence travellers albeit on a different path is something I have always said thank you for – I repeat those thanks today! May I share this recent post from elsewhere on social media as information.)

The Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative is a story. It is a story being written in today’s Scotland but being shared with the world – with every participant who signs their individual Declaration becoming an author in Scotland’s story!

Gerry Hassan in today’s National puts it this way: ‘ STORY matters. It is part of what makes us human. It is how we make sense of the world, how we remember, communicate with others and interpret complex situations. It provides a thread linking past, present and future.’

The Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative is a story. It is a story being written in Scotland with a steadily growing number of authors. Each Declaration bears the unique signature of each individual author.

Each retained copy of each Declaration will form part of Scotland’s story, with the identity of each author recorded by their signature.

It is an unfolding story. Each Stage in the initiative will record a Chapter in Scotland’s story.
The Declaration initiative is inspired by Scotland’s past, it is being written in Scotland’s present, it is intended to help create Scotland’s – independent – future.

I will shortly post on the next Stage in the initiative. It will be one of a series of tests to invite more Scots who wish to be remembered as the authors of Scotland’s future.

  11. It does NOT have to be this way!

Around one-in-six (17%) households in Scotland – nearly 450,000 households – are ‘in serious financial difficulties’, meaning it is a real struggle for them to meet their day-to-day expenses, with many behind on their household bills or credit commitments.

Financial difficulties are taking a toll on households’ health and wellbeing as well. Nearly two-in-five Scottish householders (38%) felt that their financial situation was making their mental health worse; and a similar proportion felt that financial worries were causing them to sleep poorly (37%)

Heading into winter, nearly four-in-ten Scottish households (38%) said their energy bills were unaffordable rising to 45% of prepayment meter users. Almost all households (85%) had taken steps in the past six months to help them to afford their energy bills – with significant numbers resorting to using their cooker or oven less (38%); taking fewer showers or baths (27%); and cutting back spending on food (24%). Adding to cost-of-living pressures, over half (55%) of households that were paying rent or a mortgage in Scotland had seen these costs increase within the last six months.

Looking ahead to the coming year, around half (47%) of all households in Scotland were ‘very’ or ‘quite worried’ about their overall financial situation in the next 12 months.

  12. On bbc R4 Thursday 11.pm the 18th Jan. Two stalwarts of the Today program broadcast a portion of their Blog which seemingly is available on bbc Iplayer…. Nick Robison & Amol something… and their subject was termed ‘ The Tartan Wall ‘ or how many Scots seats does Liebour have to win in order to secure victory.
They had two commentators to voice opinion on this… John Curtis the bbc favourite for all polling issues… and someone who was termed to represent Scottish Issues… and that was Baroness Ruth Davidson… someone who felt had done a ‘ lot of good ‘ in the 10 years they were in Holyrood…. although no mention again of how she was a LIST representative..
Not one representative of Scotlands major party the SNP although plenty of discussion along the lines of how much disarray the SNP are in … various quotes to support the collapse in the SNP vote in polling carried out by foreign pollsters… and of course …the ‘staggering victory’ in Hamilton … although again not a peep about the number who actually turned out to vote.

So you’re very informative and clear talking BLOG is seed material that can be used to keep the message alive and hopefully germinating in those we repeat the points you so perceptively raise.

  13. I recently replied to a comment on Believe In Scotland’s facebook group and mentioned Salvo. A Moderator on the group replied :-

“ I’m sorry to be the bearer of negative news but Salvo has no workable solutions. I’ll leave it at that..” My subsequent comment was deleted and I was given a warning.

This left me in low spirits as I had just contributed to Believe In Scotland’s fundraiser and was surprised by this cynicism. It is going to be an uphill struggle for Salvo when an important YES/independence group is promulgating such a dim view of Salvo and “The Claim of Right”. In future all my donations will go to SALVO, they need every penny they can get and they have restored my optimism that perhaps one day Scotland will be free of this involuntary Union, I hope I’m still around to celebrate.

Thanks for all you do Iain

    2. It is disappointing to read this Nellie. BIS of course belonged for a long time to the Blind Nicola Front where anything suggesting she was on the wrong track was ruthlessly censored and “warnings” issued. So all this might just be blind “continuity”. Then of course it might just be jealously at Salvo’s success.

    3. I expect BiS may be envious of the Salvo membership success (and its resources), as well as its intellectual depth and approach; the latter seems easy to discern when one confronts both websites, much like comparing a glossy magazine with a learned journal.

The BiS stance seems typical of the controlling SNP’s ‘our way or the highway’ approach. Their ‘way’ to independence remains as it has the past decade or so via politely asking the colonial power (i.e. in line with Fanon’s ‘legal tendency’), a strategy which is doomed to fail, as almost all former colonies know, and postcolonial theory confirms. The history of decolonization tells us that the route to national liberation lies outwith the colonial corset that is ‘domestic law’; hence the Salvo and Liberation.scot approach.

Until BiS and the SNPs mostly privileged bourgeois figureheads better understand and acknowledge Scotland’s colonial reality they will neither appreciate what independence means – decolonization – nor where to find the only remedy – liberation.

      2. Aye Alf, it’s weel past time for Scotland tae cast aff its colonial styes in the form o’ Westminster rule. BiS on reflection might as well have translated as Believe in Sturgeon inasmuch as their extremely bland output has produced the same blocking effect of shoring up the status quo.

Liberation, as those truly seeking Scotland’s Independence would understand is studiously avoided by the ‘mostly privileged bourgeois figureheads’ of the SNP, ‘decolonization’ being seen as anathema to their personal wellbeing and ambitions. #END THE UNION!!

    4. ‘Salvo has no workable solutions”. That, coming from BIS that believes in miracles because that’s what it would take for WM government to respond positively to the polite requests from SNP for a Section 30 Order.

Just when are these people going to stop trying to con the people of Scotland into voting for a party that fantasises about a co-operative colonial administration in London and realise that they will never release Scotland because they simply cannot afford Scottish independence.

They kindly allowed us a referendum in 2014, safe in the knowledge that the opinion polls were showing between 28% to 30% in favour of independence and they still have not managed to get over the shock that resulted in the panicked rush north to issue the infamous “Vow”.

It is clear that BIS and the SNP have learned nothing from the massive loss of members and are extremely jealous of the revelations and ever-increasing membership of Salvo and Liberation Scotland and I forecast that very soon, when Salvo makes public what so many talented and dedicated people have been working on, that membership will soar.

  14. Nepotism destroys individual freedom of thought. Its success is dependent on the, “knock at the door” doctrine and a widespread use of the “cash in the envelope” practice so prevalent in ungovernable democracies like Pakistan and some constituencies in England and I venture increasing use in some areas of Scotland. That is the Sturgeon and Murrell legacy after nearly 8 years of malfeasant government. A philosophy embraced with enthusiasm by Humza “the humper” and his nepotistically appointed SNP officials, Counsellors, MSPs and MPs. What needs to be done to bring about change?

Seek the assistance of the Media, the Police, and the Crown Prosecution Service!!!

    An approach doomed to fail.

All three entities are firmly committed to retaining the SNP in Government.

The media was bought off by generous annual financial grants ostensibly to ensure their existence since without it many would be forced to shut up shop.

The Police Force is headed by an English Chief Constable appointed because she was a woman and committed advocate of, “Stonewall’s LGBQT?? policies.

The Crown Prosecution Service is badly tainted by the dubious and at times downright dishonest behaviour of its senior officers witnessed by the many millions of pounds paid by the Scottish Government to settle claimant’s demands for damages following false prosecutions.

Iain: I empathise with your views and the action you intend to take. Best wishes Calton Jock!!

  15. I agree with what you say Iain. Politically Scotland is in the doldrums right now. The devolved parliament was something that I supported at the time, and had high hopes for. It has proved to be a dead end, or more likely, a trap. But at least we now can see the enemy within, the SNP, they hardly even bother to pretend to want independence any more.

I still have high hopes for Ash Regan, though I think, sadly, that Alex Salmond has had his day. He’s been through an awful lot in the past few years, and it has taken its toll on him. Few of us could have withstood the pressure he was subjected to. We all grow older too and eventually have to step back, making way for someone younger, hopefully with new ideas.

Sadly, Alex still seems to have faith that Westminster will play fairly regarding Scotland, a belief I don’t share. We owe him a lot, and I believe that he did win us independence in 2014. But Westminster wee always going to win, at any cost.

Alex is tainted in some people’s eyes, and will remain tainted until the Murrells are shown up for what they are.

January is the month when we all get a bit depressed, but spring is on its way, and soon we can emerge from winter and begin again.

You have led and informed the leading edge – now it could be time to focus on one issue: what is the issue you feel as the biggest block to our path forward? Discount Holyrood – they are an energy-sink with the current inhabitants. Is it a constitution that everyone can get behind? Treaty violations? Our corrupted legal framework (where are the answers for Salmon, the perjury case, the 600k?). 19. “what is the issue you feel as the biggest block to our path forward?”

An oppressed peoples’ lack of understanding about what independence really means and why it is necessary remains a key impediment in any quest for liberation. Given our confused and neutralised political class and biased anti-colonial media and institutions, the pro-indy bloggers are thus far the only hope for change, which explains why the colonial power is targeting them.

    As Frantz Fanon noted:

“Now the political education of the masses is seen to be a historic necessity. That spectacular volunteer movement which meant to lead the colonized people to supreme sovereignty at one fell swoop… are all now seen in the light of experience to be symptoms of a very great weakness. While the native thought that he could pass without transition from the status of a colonized person to that of a self-governing citizen of an independent nation, he made no real progress along the road to knowledge. His consciousness remained rudimentary.”

In other words, the ‘essential message’ has still to get out there to the people: that our condition is a ‘colonial condition’; that the only remedy for this condition is ‘liberation’, and; that ‘the means’ of liberation must be found, and quickly.

Nationalist politicians and intellectuals have a duty to explain this reality. A wee leaflet or two through every door in the country might also be an idea:
