Dear Chief Constable,

Hello again.  I’m sorry to bother you once more with regards the Hate Crime Act.  I’m sure you’re none too fond of it yourself by now.

However… there is now ample evidence that those persons who have an issue with phrases, such as the below:

  1. BIOLOGICAL SEX IS REAL
  2. PUBERTY BLOCKERS STERILISE CHILDREN
  3. NO-ONE CAN CHANGE SEX
  4. IF A PERSON HAS A PENIS, HE’S A MAN
  5. DIGNITY AND SAFETY SUPERSEDES HURT FEELINGS
  6. NO RAPISTS IN WOMENS PRISONS
  7. SEX NOT ‘GENDER’ IN LAW AND LIFE
  8. TRANSWOMEN ARE BIOLOGICAL MEN
  9. A WOMAN IS AN ADULT HUMAN FEMALE
  10. SINGLE SEX WARD MEANS BIOLOGICAL SEX, NOT GENDER

Include an element who display a fanatical opposition, an unhealthy, somewhat violent anger towards women (the biological kind) in general and women’s rights activists in particular… and dare I say it, a tenuous grasp of reality and scientific facts.

Can you confirm that Police Scotland will carry out risk assessments of such Complainers, both from the point of view of 

  1. submitting Vulnerable Persons Reports about them, for the attention of Partner Agencies within the Medical Profession, and 
  2. from the point of view of gathering Intelligence about those who are likely to display violence towards Women, and / or interfere with their democratic right to hold political views contrary to them, and 
  3. for quality data input with regards Community Tension Reports.

Obviously, for Police to carry out the above, it renders anonymous reporting of such ‘hate incidents’ unworkable, and ‘remote recording’ of such incidents of limited use, as a Police visit would be required thereafter to carry out the above assessment.

I look forward to your response regarding this aspect.

Once again this is an open letter and will be published, along with your response, in full.  Once again I bring to your attention Section 8 of the Act.

  6. Well done Sally, a very sensible lady. I’m sure that we will all be awaiting the chief constable’s replies to you. We don’t seem to have seen or heard anything at all from this woman since she has taken over Police Scotland I wonder why?

  7. Don’t hold your breath Sally. What your two letters say is fantastic. If you get replies I will be amazed. I hope I am wrong but you probably have more chance of a big lottery win than getting a reply.
    Regrettably this act says more about the driving forces with the SNP. Hopefully you will pick up a lot of ‘slippers’ votes later this year.

  9. No response, no surprise.

    Police Scotland are utterly corrupt. They pick and choose who is to get pursued and who does not. Their purpose is now crystal clear. Partisan and politically directed they do not pursue all manner of crime. Money and influence talks and the police listen.

    At the other end of the scale common or garden crime which is the bane of ordinary citizens life goes unpursued. But in the middle, the police will spend no end of time, effort and money to pursue politicians, or political activists or marchers needing kettling or in fact anyone who is off message to the ruling establishment.

    Police Scotland are not the guardians of the people and as I have said before they are now very much a political thug force. All trust is gone. They are best avoided.

    And of course the Crown Office moves in exactly the same way. The prosecution of Alex Salmond, Craig Murray, Mark Hirst to name a few shows that.

    So no, its no surprise that Sally Hughes has not received any response. No surprise at all.

  10. ’Biological sex’; as a student of biology (a long time ago), I find this term problematic and I suspect it is used by someone who has a little knowledge (which, it is said, is ‘a dangerous thing’). I think this is used to mean what might be termed ‘genotypical sex’. Genotypes (what genes an organism has) and phenotypes (broadly, an organisms physical properties) are both biological properties. Sex determination in mammals is not quite so straightforward as it may seem superficially. Look up Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome and Klinefelter Syndrome and ponder what other syndromes we may not have identified, yet. Genetic Mosaicism and Genetic Chimerism may also cloud the issue.

    1. You talk about clouding the issue? These are all MALE genetic disorders. Women cannot have Klinefelter’s.

      1. So what, in your opinion defines ‘biological sex’ and why do you think you think you have a definitive answer? If having 2 X chromosomes makes you female then someone who has Klinefelter syndrome must be female since they have 2 (or more) X chromosomes. What if they are a mosaic with some of their cells having this and some not?
