SCOTLAND IS NOW LONDON’S “INDIA”

Scotland is London’s India

• Until the empire started to collapse post WWII, and from the period Scotland was finally ‘subdued’ by late 1700s, our complicit assimilated elites were mostly left to ‘run’ Scotland and develop its commercial sector;

• However, as the loss of empire became unstoppable by the 1960s, London’s focus shifted more towards Scotland (and to a lesser extent Wales) – the ‘internal’ colonies – to supply its ‘needs’;

• Globalisation of trade (including containerisation) since the 1970s/80s also led to former colonies re-orientating their trade towards global markets and away from UK;

• There was no ‘national’ protection for Scottish-owned industries and commerce (as there is in many countries), and pretty much every major business has since been acquired by London – in retail, finance, manufacturing, whisky etc;

• Scotland’s major public utilities were first nationalised post WWII and made part of ‘British’ organisation structures with HQs mostly moved to London, then subsequently privatised since the 1980s;

• Discovery of oil/gas in 1970s also dictated London’s need to retain absolute control of its ‘strategic’ colony.

• Now the renewables revolution again sees London control intensify, and the destruction of SNP, rupture in the movement etc.

• Now Scotland is London’s ‘India’.

COMMENT

Short and sweet, but helps explain Scotland’s continued lack of economic growth, under-development in the world of commerce, and our colonial role as bystander, as observer, whilst ‘our procurer’ plunders our assets and resources.It was put together by members of the SNC Steering Committee. India got rid of the coloniser. We must do the same.

I am, as always

Yours for Scotland.

LIBERATION.SCOT

We are seeking to build Liberation.Scot to at least 100,000 signatures just as quickly as we can. This is part of our plan to win recognition as an official Liberation Movement via the United Nations. We intend to internationalise our battle to win Independence and through the setting up of our Scottish National Congress will prepare and develop our arguments to win progress in the International Courts. Please help by signing up at Liberation.Scot. It is from those who sign up to Liberation.Scot that the membership of the SNC will be created by ballot.

  1. “Destruction of the SNP?”

    That is rather inaccurate if you are suggesting this was by external forces! Perhaps I have misunderstood you comment.

    The SNP destroyed itself. The Members, elected officials and Politicians actively supported Murrell Enterprises or even worse, they remained silent to keep their current role.

    The SNP has tried to destroy the YES Movement! I have no doubt the the Unionists infiltrated the SNP but the real damage was done by the Sturgeon clique. London didn’t steal the £667k. London didn’t neuter the membership role. London didn’t make half the membership leave the Party. London did not push GRR on the Scottish Public against their wishes. London did not force Sturgeon to go to the Supreme Court with a weak and hopeless case argument.

    We have suffered many injustices under London Rule but the betrayal by the SNP was homegrown and has put the Independence cause back decades to give the Unionists time to dig in even harder.

    1. No doubt but many consider the Murrels as agents of the British state. That may be a step too far but some of their actions, including those you list are inexplicable otherwise.

      1. But giving them the nomenclature of “ agents” makes them real, strategic thinkers ?
        Don’t give them any banners – I have been trying to ignore them and let them wither on the bough

    2. I would suggest they did it because they are immune from any consequences. This in itself tells us they are agent’s of the British state.

  2. Very perceptive comment from Indian writer Shivam Vij.

    “Changing names won’t decolonize the Indian mind. It is in the realm of ideas — such as Divide and Rule — that we need decolonisation. “

    Decolonising the Scottish mind will hopefully be our second enlightenment.

  3. It is timely to remind ourselves that even between 1900 and 1921 only 28% of all revenues raised in Scotland were spent in the country. The remainder i.e. almost three-quarters of revenues were spent elsewhere as a “Contribution to Imperial Services”.

    I wonder what Scotland’s “Contribution to Imperial Services” are today given the massive resources theft of the carbon and renewable energy sources that has been on-going since 1975?

  4. If you have ever read Inglorious Empire by Shahsi Tharoor then you will see the truth in this post. A horrifying read about what was done to India. Scotland is being asset-stripped & will be left destitute as was India when the British left. Their last abominable act was the partition of India to create Pakistan. The violent nature of that partition still reverberates today.

  5. We see today our colonial masters in Westminsters refusal to recognise the democractic will of the Scottish people rejecting the democractic right for us to dissolve their parictical Union with a majority vote according to the Red Torys . They Claim we are equal partners then tell us in the same breath we have no right to self determination or democracy. Where does it say we have been absorbed into a greater England in the treaty of Union. Is the UK a dictatorship or a democracy ? a uncomfortable question for the British political elite.. I think like others we are in a colonial dictatorship who are telling us there is no peaceful democratic way out of the coercive Unwanted Union. We need UN recognition more than ever for our plight to ensure fair elections, fair vote counting , unbiased reporting of the media, this can only come through the UN Decolonisation process and most importantly a constitutional voting franchise for the indigenous Scots. The English Goverment can drag everyone out of Europe against their will but they tell us we cannot leave their racist medieval backwater. Colonialism though does not end with independence our assets have been sold of to foreign corporations and Free Ports imposed on us by a quisling administration to erode our sovereign rights . The wealth of Scotland is being creamed of under our very noise. But remember those who steal our assets know of the legitimacy of our Claim of right and as a consequence they have sold what they do not own. This is the real reason our colonial overlords and quisling minions have hide this from us for so long.

    1. So true:
      “We need UN recognition more than ever for our plight to ensure fair elections, fair vote counting , unbiased reporting of the media, this can only come through the UN Decolonisation process and most importantly a constitutional voting franchise for the indigenous Scots.”

      Here’s Professor Baird on the same topic the other day:

      “Civic nationalism is really defined as people from other countries having a sense of belonging to another country. That’s all very well, but people who vote no, who come from other countries into Scotland, and a lot of them that came from, say, south of the border, as well as other countries, voted against our self determination, they voted against our liberation. So they don’t have a sense of belonging to, necessarily, to Scotland.”

      But over the generations, do people not then become part of that national character?

      “Of course, after several generations, hundreds of years, maybe, they become part of that. But people coming in the last 10-20 years, remember, culture is a very, very difficult thing to change. You’ve said yourself that our Scottish culture stays with us even though we’re not taught the language.”

  6. When the Prime Minister of the day declared “Britain is open for business” it instigated a fire sale. Everything went. Foreign businesses, enterprises, even foreign governments dived in like eager wifies at Binns’ January Sale. Only Scottish Water is in public ownership. Land, sea, air are now foreign owned.

  7. And yet, there remain those who firmly believe that a colonial-administration was allowed to make a mockery of democratic principles to advance, only, its personal prestige and enrichment. Given what’s at stake for the coloniser in hard existential terms and with the vote of 2014, establishment minds were concentrated, meaning that the SNP would have to be destroyed and replaced by a unionist party of any colouration. That the SNP was actively complicit in its own destruction, if only in the role of enabling-agents can’t be doubted, but that’s only incidental to a much bigger story: that of the existential-continuity of the coloniser.

  8. I read somewhere that the British Empire stole somewhere in the region of £45 trillion from India in roughly 100 years, Scotland has been under the London cosh for 300+ years, I wonder how much has been stolen from Scotland in that time?

    The only thing that cheers me up on the indy front is that even though we lost in 2014 and the foreign media in Scotland propagandises us Scots 24/7 of every day, that indy still stands at around 48/50% which is quite remarkable considering the power that London can bring to bear down on us.

    I would even go as far as to say that the National newspapers remit, is now one of stoking the flames of indy division.

    1. I think the Oil and Gas over the last 40 years plus the lost opportunity to invest in a Wealth Fund would probably hit £3 or 4 Trillion when we have the evidence of the Norwegian fund based on the same level of Hydrocarbon reserves.
      Then you factor in the £4Billion a year for our share of the interest on “UK” debt
      The £4Billion a year for our share of the Defence Budget
      Etc etc all hidden by GERs.

      Read this and weep……look at what could have been

      1. Grouse Beater has a post (‘England’s Deceit’, Aug 18 2021) featuring a shorter item by the above-attributed Jason Hickel (sic) drawing attention to the key original research by economist Utsa Patnaik.

        At the foot of that webpage Grouse Beater has a youtube link to a stunning speech by Dr SHASHI THAROOR at Edinburgh University’s McEwan Hall in Nov 2017. Regarding language Shashi Tharoor talks a bit about the imposition of English (55 mins in), but Tharoor’s entire speech is essential viewing regarding the heinous reality of British colonialism —

      2. Excellent informative lecture, with a good display of postcolonial theory and understanding.

        However, not many Scots folk in the audience or on stage among dignitaries, it seems. As event hosts some local participation might have been expected? Though Edin Uni seems very much an international business, not so focused on Scots, according to the graduation lists, and academic staff employed.
