ANOTHER Independent emerges this time in Pete Wishart’s seat!

            Of Independent Mind

My name is Sally Hughes, I’m an adult, human, female (or ‘woman’ as we used to say) I’ve had 50 years living and working in Perthshire.  Retired from the Police in 2020 after 25 years working the beat all over Tayside, and I have been a lifelong supporter of Scottish Independence.

They say this year – 2024 – will be a General Election Year, so I’m pinning my colours to the mast now.  I will be standing as an Independent, Independence candidate in the Perth and Kinross Constituency.

There’s a growing theme today that things aren’t working the way they should, that society is broken and that Political Parties have lost their way, become disconnected from the voters, lost sight of their main reason for being.

Rather than grumble, I’ve decided to roll up my sleeves and walk the walk.

Scotland desperately needs Independence as a matter of survival.  Folks shivering in their homes, while the countries’ Gas, Oil, Electricity is exported out (6 times over and above our own needs) with no benefit to Scotland, is asset stripping.  Blatant, colonial, asset stripping.

My beautiful Scotland – is not a playground for the rich, a retirement home for the middle classes from wealthier parts of the UK, or a mineral deposit to be plundered by foreign industry.

This is my home, my country, my heart.  This is Scotland, and she’s going to be free.

So, the issue of Independence is going back, bang in the middle of the ballot paper in this constituency.

I’ll be drawing up what I stand for soon, but some things to be clear about from the get go:

Independence for Scotland is my number one goal, and I’ll be keeping all and any, legitimate methods of achieving it on the table.

Biology is real, women’s’ rights have been hard won and slow to be delivered, child safety is pro-active and rightly so.  I will fight any and all attempts to row back on these principles and safeguards.

That’ll do for now.  I hope to meet you when I’m out and about during the campaign.

For Scotland.

Yours

Sally

MY. COMMENTS

Sally has had a number of articles published on this site in the past. Watching Prism today as she expounded her plan, if elected, was to swear a perfectly legal oath stating the sovereignty of the Scottish people rather than the English monarch I was excited by this idea. It is legal, the Scottish people’s sovereignty through the Claim of Right 1689 is a pre condition of the Union, and was recognised as such and it is also stated clearly in the Scottish Constitutional Oath which is a legal requirement to claim the Crown in Scotland. I very much doubt Westminster would like to go to court on that basis to debar her from taking her elected seat. Of course once one MP did this I guess it would quickly become an epidemic. Very encouraging, that is two highly competent Independents for Independence already announced. I am pretty sure more are coming.

I am, as always

YOURS FOR SCOTLAND

Here is Sally announcing her decision.

I didn’t know this about the swearing of the Oath, not in this form I must admit. Perhaps Sara S/Salvo could get behind some extra bit of education for the Indy Movement. Very interesting.

Sally, it’s people like you that makes the difference between freedom and colonialism.

I’d like to see you swearing the Oath and not ………..!

  3. My heart leaped when I read your article. There is hope. If enough independently-minded independents are elected, secession is possible!

Good Luck! (Never forget that they are indeed out to get you.)

    1. @Andrew Paterson

Just one point I feel that must be made here:

Please don’t say the Scotland is succeeding.

In this context that word has a specific meaning, and Scotland is NOT succeeding from The United Kingdom, from Britain or from England.

Scotland is bound by a treaty. Scotland must resile from that treaty.

Then the treaty no longer exists. The United Kingdom will no longer Exist.

This is an existential threat to the power of the British ruling elite.

      Threaten them.

We are NOT suceeding. We are leaving.

  4. We are now up to 3 independent candidates as Angus Brendan MacNeil is standing as one in the outer Hebrides. I suspect the field will get crowded in Perth and Kinross as would very surprised if Alba had not planned to target the seat after all the crap they have had to put up with from Pete the man who would be speaker. With a bit of luck Pete’s block list will come back to haunt him.

  5. Fantastic news. This is what all the 2014 Yessers thought that the SNP MPs would be like, only to be disappointed. We need a good many more such people representing us – I know there are plenty well-suited to the task – so we can get rid of the party political system straitjacket.

The idea of an oath based on the Treaty of Union is genius. It can’t be gainsayed and any attempt to do so will be so well-publicised that Scotland’s case will become even clearer to even more people.

  6. From this we see democratic choice starting to emerge. Candidates who swear allegiance to Scotland and not the anti independence colonial denizens of the trough that are the SNP.

Of all the MP’s that need to be chucked out Peter Wishart heads the list. For him his aspiration was to be the speaker of the English Parliament. Not all that different from Iain Blackford who wanted to be elevated to the House of Lords. Two examples of exactly what the SNP are.

But change is coming and I do believe that a candidate like Sally Hughes will dislocate and dispose of trash like cosy toed Peter Wishart. Blackford for his part is standing down but in anticipation of being selected to stand for a Glasgow seat at the next Hollyrood election has left Skye and is buying another house in the West End for him and the new bird in anticipation of being selected as a candidate for a seat in Glasgow or elevation to the Lords. And like Wishart both millionaires many times over. But so too are many of the others.

So lets hear from Sally and all the others who come forward as independent independence candidates.

    1. I sincerely hope Blackford is “elevated” (sic) to the Lords so that more eyes are opened to what the SNP has become.

  7. Pleased to hear that someone interested in women’s rights and in independence is taking on Pete “I fancy being speaker” Wishart. Best of luck to you, you’d have my vote if I lived in the constituency. Slippers and Nicholson being targeted – can someone please target Alyn Smith, Hannah Bardell and Kirsty Blackman please? I’m sure others could add names to the list of “no loss to Scotland if defeated”!

  8. Oaths are transitive.

So if Chuckles has sworn the Scottish coronation oath, then swearing an oath to him would automatically include the Scottish oath – and limits the scope of the oath to those actions the monarch takes which are themselves within his oath.

However, he has not so sworn, so…

  9. Brilliant. This is exactly what’s needed. Not targeting every single Westminster seat held by SNP but certainly targeting every seat held by proven devolutionist/plant/just not too bright oddity.

Hope although they’re standing as Independent there’s some coordination and pooling of scarce resources. Crowdfunder anyone!
Now what’s needed is a list of SNP MP’s worth keeping – how small will that be! However actually think my own MP might be on it. (Like all the work he’s done for WASPI women and he’s very active in his constituency) He’s not the most eloquent but seems a nice guy – Kilmarnock supporter too.
You don’t need to be pro Alba to hope that their two MP’s are indeed worth keeping. Their actions and words speak that loud and clear.

Obviously also targeting all unionist seats too – unless sitting MP can be proven by deeds not just words to be actually pro Scottish as opposed to pro English parliament – totally unaware if there are actually any like that out there! You never know there might be.

A real independent takeover lead by the people. That’s how to do it.

    Truly Country before Party.

  10. should also have commented that this is an excellent way to finally have any remaining decent pro indie SNP MP’s and MSP’s to take back control of their very obviously totally out of control party. Fear of losing their seat being a powerful motivator.

  11. I’d vote for you as an independent in preference to SNP. Main reason you’re not subject to the party whip which means my vote would be truly democratic. You’d be able to vote with your intelligence and conscience. Best of luck, break a leg whatever, but WIN. We need women like you in parliament. Yours, Moira McCartney

  12. Loved it last year at Glasgow Green when Sara got us all to repeat together the Scottish Oath of Accession. Very, very powerful listening to all our voices.

The Legal Oath of Scottish Accession

I faithfully promise the Lawful Rights and Rents with all just Privileges of the Crown of Scotland which is the People of this Nation.

    I shall claim

and shall call to account all those who have betrayed, transferred or undermined it.

Theft, oppression and wrong doing against this People I shall answer –

with Justice, Equity and the restoration of our Rights, of our Laws and the Common Good of our Sovereign Community. So help me.”

  14. Short extract from the Declaration of a Sovereign Scot – would need amended for those seeking election to Westminster:

” … and demand that any Oath of Allegiance to be sought from, and given by, a potential Member of the Scottish Parliament recognises the Sovereignty of the Scottish People in the following terms: “By this oath, I acknowledge that if elected as a Member of the Scottish Parliament, it will be as a result of votes cast by Sovereign Scots, and I do solemnly swear and affirm that my allegiance is, and will remain, to the Sovereign people of Scotland.”

NB: The full Declaration has already been signed by Scots from all over Scotland over the past 3 years and all signed Declarations conveyed to the HQ of the UN for safe-keepingx

  15. For me I couldn’t be happier with these Independents, 1 we get a true Scot elected or 2 we oust the Unionist SNP in certain seats.

My rotten MP is Hannah Bardell, I will vote for anyone who has a chance of knocking her out of Westminster for good, she has done nothing for my area or our country. For 33yrs since I turned 18 I had only vote for the SNP no more, the enemy isn’t the parliament south of the boarder its Holyrood and I will spoil my ballet paper before I put my X next to this woman’s name.

  16. Those who have settled for a parliamentary pension and taken the Kings shilling for treachery will be quaking in their shoes their game of betrayal is coming to an End. The Sturgeon years have been nothing but a blatant corruption and deceit by the compromised , incompetent and Lazy . No doubt with the colonial masters hand working the Scottish vichy puppets, they couldn’t not have done it without the assistance approval and nod of their MI5 Handlers. When Labour fell apart in Scotland as a result of their blantant allegiance to London and their one way coercive Union, these warped individuals joined the SNP embrace by Sturgeons Unionists cabal , they changed the party from the inside. Hopefully they will receive their democratic justice at the next election. Lets hope every SNP seat is challenged.

  17. PS William Wallace asked how he could be a traitor. Centuries later Sir Roger Casement from Ireland asked the same question at his trial. Both ended up in the same way – executed by the UK for treason

  18. It’s been a great couple of days for Scotland with the two recent announcements that there are more joining the movement towards putting our country before party politics.

I and many others will be delighted to see the back of Pete Wishart, who a couple of years ago ‘celebrated’ 20 years on the green benches at the Palace of Westminster. Did he not realise that his celebration was a public announcement of his failure to achieve why he was sent there?

At last, there is something to look forward to for Scotland that may be a positive in the coming General Election. Wishing Sally, Eva and Brendan success and hoping many others will come forward to rid us of these devolutionist chancers.
